School dinners

All children who attend Martin Frobisher Infant School full time are entitled to a free school meal. This is funded by the government under the Universal free school meals initiative. All meals are cooked on site by our fantastic cook and catering team and we have a high uptake of children having a meal provided to them in school. The meals are cooked fresh each day and all meet the national food standards. This could save you over £600 in food bills and many hours in preparing a packed lunch.

Meals can be chosen at home if you have an account with School Grid, or in school. This process ensures that your child will always get the meal of their choice no matter when they come into the dining hall. All allergies can be catered for and there is a wide range of food choices to choose from including a sandwich and jacket potato option daily. Catering Leeds also cater for special meal days most months and on these days we encourage all children to try the meal. If your child does have any food allergies or special dietary requirements please contact the school office for a Special Dietary Requirement Form.

If parents choose to send their child to school with a packed lunch it should meet the standards within our Packed Lunch Policy.

There will be special menus on throughout the school year. 

If you are in receipt of the following benefits your child could be eligible for Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) funding. This is additional funding given to support children in school. Currently this is £1550 per child. Your child may also qualify for other support such as the holiday activities and food programme.

Your child will get free school meals and extra help for their school if you receive:

*Universal Credit and your household income is £7,400 a year or less
*Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
*The guarantee element of Pension Credit
*Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
*Support as a family with no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
 

This is called targeted free school meals.

Your child may get free meals only if:

you receive Universal Credit
your household income is above £7,400 a year
This is called expanded free school meals

This does not include extra funding for the school and is called expanded free school meals.
